Wendler 5/3/1 Cycle 5 Week 1
- Clean (as warmup for DL): 135, 165, 180, 195, 205xx
- Deadlift: 310 x 5+: 5
- Press: 137.5 x 5+: 4 – MISSED REP
- Press 75lbs: 10, 10, 10, 8, 6
- KB swings (1.5 pood): 20, 20, 20, 20
I mixed things up a little by doing the clean/deadlift before the press. No reason why.
The cleans felt easy to get to the rack position up to 195 but oddly hard to stand up with. Obviously, I need to front squat more (where have I heard that before?). It felt good that 195 is now “easy” for me. I got the first 205 rep up to the rack position easily but just lost focus and didn’t get the elbows around. No biggie.
The deadlifts were hard. It feels like things are getting real with this program across all of the lifts. Time to see if it works for me or not.
I finally failed to get the prescribed reps with the press. I’m actually not sure what this means with Wendler 5/3/1. Time to pull the book out and figure it out!
