Wendler 5/3/1 Cycle 5 Week 3
- Clean (as warmup for DL): 145, 165, 180, 210 xxx
- Deadlift: 345 x 1+: 3
- Press: 155 x 1+: 1
- Press 75lbs: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10
Went for a PR on the clean. Didn’t get it.
Made a good showing on the deadlift. Pretty happy with 3. I think this is technically a 3 rep max PR?
Happy to get 1 on the press. 155 is pretty close to my 1RM of 160. It went up easy enough that I sincerely went for a 2nd rep but it wasn’t going to happen. On a whim, threw 165 on the bar and failed and then threw 162.5 on the bar and failed.
Now that I’ve officially hit a reset on the press, I have some decisions to make. Do I continue with Wendler or should I go back to a GSLP style approach for the upper body lifts? It was nice to do 1 rep at 155 since that means my 1RM hasn’t diminished horrifically. On the other hand, 5 months of work for “hasn’t diminished horrifically” is kinda horrific. I definitely feel like the Boring But Big assistance on the upper body has had an impact this cycle. Maybe do Boring But Big? I have a week to think about it.
