Fitness Log 2013-10-07: Bench (PR!), etc.

Bench

  • 45 lbs x 5, 95 x 5, 135 x 5, 150 x 3, 175 x 2, 200 x 2, 225 x 1, 255 x 1 (PR!), 260 x X
  • 205 x 5, 5, 8 (Rep PR)

Good day for the bench!  First a 1RM PR at 255 lbs and then a rep PR at 205 x 8.

The 260 was 90% up but I couldn’t lock it out.  This is somewhat surprising given that the bottom is usually the hard part but in this case my right arm got stuck and refused to push further.

Getting 8 at 205 was cool given that (a) it beats out 6 from way back last year when I was doing GSLP and (b) last time I did 205 in August, the 5th rep was a struggle.  Solid progress.

Technically, this should have been a Texas Method volume day but I wanted to do a 1RM test so I changed it up a bit.

Incline Alternating DB Press

  • 50 lb x 10/10, 10/10
  • 1 min rest

I really like these.  I basically just imagine that I’m trying to furiously punch my way out of something.

EZ BB Curls

  • 35 x 10, 45 x 10, 55 x 10
  • 1 min rest

KB Snatches

  • 16 kg x 50 (10/10, 5/5, 10/10)
  • 3:50 — I think???  Could have been 2:50.  Forgot to write it down.

I should do KB snatches more often.
