Fitness Log 2013-10-30: Snatch Grip Push Press (PR) + Overhead Squat

Snatch Grip Push Press + Overhead Squat

  • 1 rep = 1 SGPP + 1 OHS w/ fluid transition from SGPP to OHS
  • 45 lbs x 5
  • 55 x 5
  • 65 x 5
  • 75 x 5
  • 85 x 5
  • 95 x 5, 5, 5
  • 105 x 1
  • 115 x 1
  • 125 x 1
  • 135 x 1
  • 145 x 1/X (SGPP 1RM PR)

The idea here was to do a snatch grip push press to get the bar overhead followed immediately by an overhead squat followed by lowering the bar back to the shoulders.  This constitutes one rep.  The transition between press to squat should be as fluid as possible.  In the first rep of a set, it is okay to have some pause between the press and squat in order to get used to the weight and stabilize but with each subsequent rep, the pause should decrease until the rep approaches a heaving snatch balance.
