Fitness Log 2013-11-13: Bench, Snatch Grip Push Press + Overhead Squat, Bench (PR!)

Bench

  • 45 lbs x 5, 135 x 5, 175 x 1, 205 x 2, 235 x 2, 260 x X

Felt like going for a bench max since I haven’t benched in a while.  It didn’t go too well.  There was some impingement/tightness/discomfort in my upper arms that interfered.  No biggie.

Snatch Grip Push Press + Overhead Squat

  • 1 rep = 1 SGPP + 1 OHS w/ fluid transition from SGPP to OHS
  • 45 lbs x 5
  • 65 x 5
  • 95 x 1/2, 1/2
  • 115 x X

This also didn’t go too well.  The same upper arm impingement that interfered with the bench made these really uncomfortable.

Bench (Revisited)

  • 45 lbs x 5
  • 135 x 5
  • 205 x 1
  • 235 x 1
  • 260 x 1 (PR!)

The poor performance from earlier today was bugging me so I went out to the garage and put in a quick bench session and — boom — PR.  I’m going to chalk up today’s earlier problems as a form issue.  I was rusty from not benching in a while and just not following the proper cues — tucking the elbows, etc..
